The Challenge
DailyCurrent failed all three Core Web Vitals thresholds, with LCP at 4.8s on mobile. Rankings plateaued and ad viewability suffered as readers bounced before pages loaded.
Our Solution
We migrated the front end to Next.js with edge rendering, cut JavaScript payload by 68%, and rebuilt the ad stack with lazy loading and reserved slots. Images moved to AVIF with responsive srcsets, and fonts were self-hosted with size-adjust fallbacks.
The Results
All 900K article pages now pass Core Web Vitals with LCP at 1.4s. Organic impressions rose 63% in four months and ad viewability doubled to 74%.
